Frequently asked questions on this product
What is Koala Perfect Head used for?
Koala Perfect Head is designed to distribute pressure evenly across the head. For maximum safety, and in accordance with WHO guidelines, we recommend that Koala Perfect Head is used under adult supervision during the first 6 months of life (or until the baby can roll over independently).
How does Koala Perfect Head help distributing pressure evenly across their head?
Thanks to its design and the materials we have chosen with utmost care and attention. Our pillows are all made from 100% BASF German memory foam. This type of material evenly distributes pressure from the baby's head over the entire surface of the pillow.
Is Koala Perfect Head safe?
Since 1992, WHO guidelines have recommended that babies should always lie on their backs and should not have any pillows inside their cot in order to combat the increase in cot deaths (SIDS). The Koala Perfect Head product line has been designed in accordance with these guidelines, and under the supervision of various experts and professionals, we have made it as safe as possible. Pillows in our KPH range are suitable from birth as long as you use them carefully and sensibly. For maximum safety, we recommend using Koala Perfect Head pillows under adult supervision during the first 6 months of the baby’s life or until the baby can roll over independently.
Have Koala Perfect Head Pillows been certified?
Yes, of course, Koala Perfect Head pillows have: Design Patent; CE Certification; Ergonomic Product; Certification by the German Institute for Health and Ergonomics (IGR); Oeko Tex Certification
Are Koala Perfect Head cushions anti-suffocation?
Despite the fact that the Memory Foam with which they are made has holes to facilitate the passage of air, no tests have been carried out on Koala Perfect Head to certify that it is anti-suffocation, as there is currently no legislation governing the classification of these devices as such. For this reason, we always recommend, for maximum safety, that they be used under adult supervision during the first 6 months of life or until the baby is able to roll over independently.
How should I use Koala Perfect Head?
Always place the baby on their back (the safest position during the first year of their life), resting the baby's head in the centre of the pillow near the hole or indent. This position will allow pressure on the skull to be evenly distributed. Always make sure that their shoulders are off the pillow (this will align their spine and tneck) and that their chin is not tilted towards theit chest. For maximum safety, from 0 to 6 months or until the child is able to roll over independently, we recommend that the pillow is always used under adult supervision.
What should I do if my baby does not stay in the recommended position? Will Koala Perfect Head still work?
Koala Perfect Head does not lock the baby in one single position, so the baby’s head may move out of the hole or indent. This is not a problem, as the Memory Foam will continue to distribute the right amount of pressure over a very large surface area, thus reducing localised pressure.
Why are there two sizes?
We have come up with two different solutions to protect your baby's head wherever you may be. Koala Perfect Head is the perfect solution you can always take with you. Its compact shape makes it suitable for all types of baby equipment (from prams to pushchairs) and the central indent is perfect for the very first months of life. Koala Perfect Head Maxi, on the other hand, is designed for cot naps up to 3 years of age. Its generous size (50 cm) ensures that the baby's head does not come off the pillow as they move around, making it perfect for both the Next To Me co-sleeping crib as well as ordinary cots. For maximum safety, we recommend using both pillows under adult supervision during the first 6 months of the baby’s life or until the child is able to roll over independently.
Where can I use Koala Perfect Head?
You can use Koala Perfect Head in prams, carrycots, pushchairs, car seats, bouncers.
Where can I use Koala Perfect Head Maxi?
You can use Koala Perfect Head Maxi in a co-sleeping crib, such as Next To Me, or in a cot.
What happens if I use Koala Perfect Head in the cot?
Koala Perfect Head Pillow is designed to be used in baby carrying supports, which are less spacious than cots. Therefore, the pillow helps the baby maintain the correct position, i.e. on their backs, while their head stays inside the indent. When using Koala Perfect Head on a larger surface, such as a cot or co-sleeping crib, you will notice that as they move around, your baby will move off the pillow easily, which is why the Maxi version is more suitable in these cases.
What are the age ranges for using Koala Perfect Head and Koala Perfect Head Maxi?
Koala Perfect Head pillows, as long as used carefully, are designed to be used from the first few months of your baby’s life. However, they are indicated for different uses. Koala Perfect Head can be used up to 12 months old in smaller baby carrying supports, while the Koala Perfect Head Maxi can be used right up until 36 months in co-sleeping cribs or cots. Please note that in both cases, from 0 to 6 months (or until the baby can roll over independently) you should use the pillow under adult supervision.
Why does Koala Perfect Head have an indent, whereas Koala Perfect Head MAXI does not?
The characteristic indent in Koala Perfect Head allows the baby's head to stay in the correct position, especially when the baby is in a semi-reclining position such as in the car seat or bouncer. It is also useful for keeping the baby's head centered, preventing it from continually coming off the pillow. Koala Perfect Head Maxi, on the other hand, does not have an indent, but rather a rounded basin in the middle, which is more suitable for when the baby is in a lying down position. The function of the memory foam is the same in both pillows and the presence or absence of the indent does not affect the product’s efficiency. The different shapes are designed according to where each pillow is to be used.
What is Koala Perfect Head made of?
Both pillows are made of 100% high-quality BASF German Memory Foam. Two pillowcases (made from 75% cotton and 25% polyester) are provided with the pillow. Materials used are Oeko Tex certified. The pillows are free of zips, buttons and metal parts to maximise baby's safety.
How do I remove the memory foam from the pillowcase?
To remove the memory foam from the pillowcase, simply fold it and pull it out through the opening on the back of the pillowcase.
Can I wash the memory foam? How many degrees should I wash the pillowcases at?
Do not wash the memory foam in water or in the washing machine. Memory foam loses its original shape when immersed in water, making it unusable. You can clean the surface with a well wrung out cotton or microfibre cloth and let it air dry flat away from sunlight. You can wash the pillowcases at 30°. However, we recommend that you do not bleach them, do not iron them, do not dry clean them and do not use stain removers or solvents.
